Message from the Founder

“When Naya Aasha began, we had no office, no funding, and no certainty that it would work. What we had was a conviction that difficult circumstances should never decide the limits of a person's future and a refusal to accept how ordinary it had become for families to be told that nothing could be done. the moment you decided. A family you met, a child who stopped attending school, someone who left treatment because of how they were treated. Specific, real, and told without identifying anyone who has not consented. We work with children whose education is interrupted by cost, with people living with HIV who face stigma more often than they face a shortage of medicine, and with families managing more than any family should have to manage alone. We do not pretend these problems are simple, and we do not pretend we can solve them by ourselves. What we can promise is this. We listen before we act. We do not make commitments we cannot keep. We protect the privacy and dignity of every person who comes to us, especially those who are most easily overlooked. And we account openly for what we receive and what we spend, because trust given to an organization like ours is not owed it is earned, and it can be lost. Naya Aasha is not the work of one person. It belongs to the volunteers who give their time, the partners who share their expertise, the supporters who make our programmes possible, and above all the families who allow us into some of the hardest moments of their lives. That last trust is the one we take most seriously. There is a great deal still to build. If our work speaks to you, we would welcome you in it. ”
